Is Al Gore above the law?

Tom S asked:

Why is Al Gore’s son getting special treatment.?

His guilty plea to drug charges are withdrawn if he completes his drug treatment program.

Why doesn’t every other person ever convicted of drug or alcohol -related charges get the same deal?

Gore was charged with two felony counts of possession of a controlled substance, two misdemeanor counts of possessing a controlled substance without a prescription, one misdemeanor count of possession of marijuana and a traffic infraction.

Is it because Al Gore is rich, or is a politician or is a Global Warming preacher that his son gets away with his crimes?

Al Gore (and family) doesn’t break the law; he invented the law; and therefore, it doesn’t apply to him and his family.

It is typical liberal hypocrisy of do as i say, not as i do. Had that of been any other person, the felonies would stick, and that person would be setting in prison.

Don’t fall victim to the illusion. Al Gore is magnified to show texture, not superiority. He is NOT above the law – it just seems like it.

As for his drug charges, as long as he is a legend in his own mind I wouldn’t expect him to do anything about it. He’s too high on his own horse.

We obviously have two justice systems in the U.S. One for the wealthy and one for everyone else.

Our own Attorney General appears to be above the law.

Scooter Libby had his sentence for lying to a Grand Jury commuted by the President.

It would be very difficult for me to sit on a jury today knowing that the mope in the docket…guilty or innocent…probably wouldn’t even be there if he had any money.

We have the best legal system that money can buy.

We also have the best healthcare system that money can buy.

Like it or not, these are accurate observations.

No…he’s not…and what his son is going to is called Drug Court, designed specifically to help clear the Dept. of Corrections huge backlog of prisoners waiting for over a year sometimes for transportation from county jails to prisons.

It is a very stringent 18 month course requiring five therapy sessions per week (at $70 a pop) and monthly appearances before a judge and drug court team as well as at least monthly drug tests. Full time employment is absolutely required…and since all the therapy and court appearances are during the daytime…that means finding a night job.

There is a less than 50% success rate.

Yes, he is above the law. And you better not question this or your carbon credit limit will be half of the average person.

(As for his son, I leave the families out of it until they decide to put themselves into the public light.)

Yes, to all of the above. I guess that is what’s known as an “Inconvenient Truth.”
That said, I am still somewhat impressed that he got his Prius up over 100 mph.

Most people with those charges get to do that. The war on drugs is a joke. They all get slapped on the wrist for it. So take your radical rant down the road.

I think it’s more like everyone understands that the son has a right to be messed up because of who his father is… Personally, I pity the guy…

No one is above the law, politicos and celebs think they are and are shocked when they finally realize they are just like any other citizen.

Everybody else says “No one is above the law”, until the law gets you, and then you’d wish you were.

I don’t think this is that unusual. I know of people by me that get similar sentences.

They get caught with narcotics and trying to sell them. As long as they aren’t habitual offenders, they usually get drug counseling the first time.

That is what I have seen here in Virginia.

Of course, if they were trying to sell a rather large amount of some illegal narcotic, then I’m sure they wouldn’t get off so easy and up being roommates with Big Bubba!

Al Gore is not above the law,but sad to say he has his money to escape the case.It only means that today money can pervert law. That was too bad.
