#1) AA 12 steps are ,more or less, considerd by members’ to be strictly adhered to.
#2) In the 12 steps, there are several references to “God” with a capital G. (presumably a christian God)
#3) It is reasonable to postulate that one who professeses to be Agnostic, Atheistic, Polytheistic, or others, may feel uncomfortable, and or nervous in such a group setting and therefore not feel the level of acceptance to create the most intrinsic healing and change.
#4Courts routinely mandate persons, without such considerations, to such rehabs which inturn routinely espouse and or promote an AA type program.
The crux of my question is not about the effectiveness, or a critique of AA per se. Rather I aim to explore with a fine tooth comb the indirect violation of church and state by the courts, and to further brainstorm on possible solutions and compromise.
