Question by Mrs. Butler: Reality T.V. show “Intervention” mainly show Caucasians?
Is it me or does intervention cater to mainly young white men and women. What about the other races that need and deserve the same “intereventions”?
I undestand everybodys viewpoints.
But Seriously, No other race has applied to the show??? I think we all tend to tell ourselves what we want to think at times so that we don’t have to confront the truth. I am really starting to see how Racist America still is. You mean to tell me that the only people that need “Interventions” are white??? It’s time to wake up people.
Not to mention how 90% of “The first 48” are Black men or Latino’s.(For those of you who have not seen this show which is also on A&E,ITs based on solving Homicide’s in the first 48 hours). Are there no homicides committted by whites these days???
Not to mention “Dog the bounty Hunter”. Need I explain more???

I couldn’t agree more! I’m sure that they have had other races but every show that I’ve watched has been about caucasians. I think it’s sad when the family or friends (and sometimes the addict themself) have the money for these outrageous rehab stays (most of these average about $ 60,000-$ 80,000 for a 90-day stay although they may get a break for the exposure on the show). There are so many addicts out there that really want the help but can’t afford rehabs. Yeah, there are state-funded rehabs but they are really hard to get into and a lot of them reseamble a mental hospital or a jail. It’s sad that the show is giving the opportunity to so many addicts that don’t even want the help and then relapse afterwards. I think they should just mix it up a bit and have more addicts from poor families (the addict might be poor on the show but they usually come from families that are not poor at all) and of course of different races. I’m not sure but I think that blacks actually have the highest rate of alcoholism and drug addiction of all the different ethnic groups here in the U.S.! I still watch the show especically as a recovering addict myself. Sometimes when they use, it makes me want to but for the most part, it makes me think #1 how I looked JUST LIKE THESE people and how awful they look and how awful they are ruining not just their lives but others as well and #2 gives me motivation to stay clean. Maybe we should bring this to A&E’s attention that this show needs to feature a more diversity in their choices of participants as far as race as concerned. When I was really strung out, I would’ve loved to been offered a free stay in one of these “upper scale” rehabs! GOOD POINT! YOU GET A STAR!
