There is also a prison based system of treatment wherein the convict stays in a prison but attends counseling and detoxification programs carried out by rehabs working in correspondence with the courts and the judicial system as a whole.

 

In the absence of rehabs the society will be faced with a huge number of addicted individuals who will never be able to return to the normal stream of life. It is the influence of drugs and alcohol that make the individuals loose their power of reasoning and logic and commit activities that are illegal in the eyes of law. A proper guidance and system of counseling will steer them clear of this difficult phase of life and help them in getting back to normalcy.
