Mother Addicted to Narcotics?
Question by Janey: Mother addicted to narcotics?
I live with my mother and grandfather currently. We both believe my mother is addicted to Opana and Oxycodone. (Both Opiate Narcotics) I took them away from her because they’re making her suffer the symptoms of a stroke because of the major side effects. (Dizziness, Slurred speech, trouble finding words, and confusion) She freaked out on me and threatened to hit me and chop my neck into two.. I was going to call the police because she was getting so violent. My grandfather said not to, so I didn’t. I am NOT going to let this one slide this time. Who can I call to take her into rehab or take her into some type of drug addiction program?
Also, she probably won’t be willing, so will that pose a problem?
I think the reason behind this is her depression, even though she takes meds for that.
Yes, my mother does have pain. She has 2 herniated disks in her spinal cord.

well you can call the cop and they can help or you can look at some rehab pleases and see if they can help and if you know your mother’s doctor you might can tell him or her how she acts with the drugs. hope everything works out.

Those are very strong narcotics and they will offer the symptoms you describe. First to be considered is why she is taking such meds in the first place and why so much. But if she is indeed addicted removing the drugs can be dangerous. I would first call her doctor and have a meeting. If that response doesn’t go well call Narcotics Anonymous. They should have all the answers you need.
