Drug Rehab: My Sons Ex-Girlfriend Reported That I Am Unsafe to Be Around My Grandsons, I Haven’t Heard a Thing From?

Question by bvfarrington: my sons ex-girlfriend reported that i am unsafe to be around my grandsons, i haven’t heard a thing from?
dhs about being investigated.she said i misuse my medications and could be a harmful to them. what she’s doing is punishing me for losing her family from her own drug problems. my son has had custody for the past four yrs. when the second baby was born in 2007 he had meth and thc in him. she went to so called “rehab” and got pissed at me and said she would rather have her kids in foster care then for them to ever be with me again. i always was on her side trying to keep their family together. i’ve contacted dhs and have gotten no response. my grandbabies were here with my son last night and they cried because they couldn’t hang out with grandma. anyboby have any good ideas on how to approach this or know of some other thoughts that i would like to do with her. thanks

Unless you have went to court, or have been investigated by social services/child protective services, an you were found to be harmful to the kids….you are okay to be around them. Her saying you aren’t doesn’t make it so.
Why would you just go on what she said? Unless someone with some authority told me to stay away, I wouldn’t.

The elderly are among those most vulnerable to prescription drug abuse or misuse because they are prescribed more medications than their younger counterparts. Most people take prescription medications responsibly; however, an estimated 48 million people (ages 12 and older) have used prescription drugs for nonmedical reasons in their lifetimes. This represents approximately 20 percent of the US population. Also alarming is the fact that the 2004 National Institute on Drug Abuse’s (NIDA’s) Monitoring the Future survey of 8th, 10th, and 12th-graders found that 9.3 percent of 12th-graders reported using Vicodin without a prescription in the past year, and 5.0 percent reported using OxyContin-making these medications among the most commonly abused prescription drugs by adolescents. The abuse of certain prescription drugs-opioids, central nervous system (CNS) depressants, and stimulants- can alter the brain’s activity and lead to addiction. While we do not yet understand all of the reasons for the increasing abuse of prescription drugs, we do know that accessibility is likely a contributing factor. In addition to the increasing number of medicines being prescribed for a variety of health problems, some medications can be obtained
